Master - Discografia

Master é uma banda de Death Metal originária de Chicago, Estados Unidos, no ano de 1983. Inicialmente chamada Death Strike, Paul Speckmann mudou o nome da banda para Master em 1985.

Paul Speckmann começou como baixista na banda Cry War que tocava doom, onde se encontrou com o baterista Bill Schmidt, que foi convidade para substituir o baterista anterior do Cry War, Joe Laccino. Juntos, Speckmann e Schmidt decidiram formar uma banda de metal mais agressivo em torno de Motörhead, Venom, Slayer e do movimento do metal extremo emergente. Eventualmente, Schmidt e Speckmann deixaram War Cry. Schmidt tinha começado a escrever músicas na linha do thrash logo em meados de 83. Deram o nome de seu Master para a banda, e fez o teste com 26 guitarristas, nenhum dos quais foram adaptados ao Master. Isso fez com que Schmidt deixasse o Master e junta-se a uma banda de metal local Mayhem (EUA). Speckmann decidiu começar sua própria banda Strike Death, usando músicas originalmente escritas para o Master. Ele foi acompanhado pelo guitarrista Chris Mittlebrun (que tinha feito um teste no Master no ano anterior, mas ainda estava preso no modo de Judas Priest) e juntos eles escreveram mais músicas para o Strike Death. Segundo guitarrista, 16 anos, Kirk Miller foi trazido, juntamente com o baterista John Leprich, que aparentemente era um bêbado.

Strike Death lança a demo "Fuckin 'Death" que fez um impacto sobre o underground, Bill Schmidt, ex-baterista do Master, implorou Speckmann para entrar na banda. Como o baterista John Leprich mal conseguia obter o bate para "Pay To Die", e era um bêbado (de acordo com Speckmann) Speckmann deixar Schmidt retorna. Após leva um chute para fora da banda o guitarrista Kirk Miller, 16 anos (que na verdade era apenas um músico de sessão para Strike Death), a banda foi re-nomeada Master. O guitarrista Chris Mittlebrun foi mantido na banda, como Schimdt ficou muito impressionado com suas habilidades.

O pai de Speckmann faleceu e deixou uma herança para ele, então Speckmann investiu o dinheiro para pagar por gravações em estúdio, com a promessa de Schmidt para assinar o primeiro acordo decente que receberem. Master caminha para Seagrape Studios, onde eles gravaram estes sete faixas. De alguma forma, mixes das faixas saíram, e foram negociadas em torno do underground (aparentemente por Shaun Glass (Síndrome, Terminal Death, Broken Hope)). Conseqüentemente, Master se tornou um grande nome no underground.
