Brutality foi formada em Setembro de 1986 por Larry Sapp. A formação original era Sapp na guitarra e vocais, Jeff Acres no baixo e Donnie Yanson na bateria. A banda passa por diversas mudanças de nome nos primeiros meses, incluindo Abomination e Darkness, enfim Acres acha Brutality.
