Deceased surgiu em 1985, inspirando-se Black Sabbath, Venom, Raven, Mercyful Fate, Slayer e Sodom. Durante o período de 1985-1989, gravou e coloco em circulação três demos (The Evil Side Of Religion, Birth By Radiation and Nuclear Exorcist) que galvanizou a sua reputação como pioneiros do death metal original. O golpe de 1988 e executado a morte do baixista Rob Sterzel trouxe Les Snyder para o grupo, completando o falecido quintessencial line-up (arredondado por Fowley King na bateria / vocais, Mark Adams e Mike Smith nas guitarras).
