O Aborted surgiu em 1995, na Bélgica. Inicialmente fundada por Swen de Caluwé, que só foi encontrar outros membros em meados de 1997, seus primeiros registros foram duas demos em 1998 e logo após em 1999 assinaram o contrato com uma pequena gravado, a Uxicon Records. O conjunto é um dos grandes expoentes do Death Metal e Goregrind do Velho Continente. Tem como atual gravadora a gigante Century Media.
Desde então a banda já lançou dois Splits (Soulreaper e Bones Brigade Records), Cinco Álbuns fudidos, Dois EP's (The Haematobic e Coronary Reconstruction) e um DVD com a Gravadora Francesa Listenable Records.
