Onslaught - Discografia

O Onslaught foi formado pelo guitarrista de Bristol, Inglaterra, Nige Rockett, e pelo baterista Steve Grice no começo dos anos 80 (1983). Os dois músicos estavam trabalhando para forjar um som speed metal ultra-agressivo que estava se tornando cada vez mais popular na época do começo do Slayer e do Metallica. Em 1985, se juntaram à dupla o baixista Jase Stallard e o vocalista Paul Mahoney. O quarteto rapidamente produziu material suficiente para um álbum e mais tarde naquele ano, a estréia “Power From Hell” foi gravada e lançada pelo selo britânico independente Cor. Um esforço substancial, se não inteiramente profissional, “Power From Hell” de 1985, junto com “Hell Awaits” do Slayer, estão entre as melhores ofertas de speed metal daquele ano, A seqüência de 1986 “The Force” foi uma proeza ainda mais forte lançada originalmente no ainda maior selo Under One Flag da Music For Nations. Numa estranha mudança de formação, Stallard trocou de tarefa instrumental tornando-se o segundo guitarrista do grupo, e o novo vocalista Sy Keeler substituiu Mahoney, que tomou a vaga do baixo deixada por Stallard. Uma gravação mais competente, “The Force” soava melhor que a estréia do grupo e manteve muito da impressionabilidade thrash do estilo Slayer. O novo baixista James Hinder substituiu Mahoney que finalmente deixou o Onslaught. Como uma importante seqüência da banda começou a surgir, eles finalmente assinaram com o selo London Records da Polydor.
